ABOUT SPLA
Sean Papich Landscape Architecture was founded in 2003, but the firm’s experiences truly started in 1989 when Sean graduated from Iowa State University and went to work with Joe Karr & Associates in Chicago. Joe had worked with iconic landscape architect Dan Kiley, and that collective influence is important to recognize. Sean also worked with Ochsner Hare & Hare in Kansas City, the oldest active landscape architecture firm in the country. Hare & Hare were contemporaries of the Olmsted Brothers and the experiences from his time with Ochsner Hare & Hare helped galvanize a strong work ethic and an attitude that anything can be accomplished with an open mind and an unrelenting desire to meet a Client’s needs. It is with that spirit that the studio lives today, along with a collective personality that is engaging, pragmatic, and highly collaborative.

Sean Papich is the founder and principal landscape architect of the studio. After growing up in Iowa and graduating from Iowa State University, as noted above, he practiced in Chicago, Arizona, and Kansas City, prior to coming to the Boston area. When not in the studio Sean enjoys coaching and participating in various sports and digging in his own yard with his wife and children.
Scott Garvin

Scott Garvin is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts and has worked in several notable firms in the Boston area. Scott primarily focuses on the team management aspect of projects. Outside of the studio, Scott may be found embarking on another home improvement project or exploring the outdoors with his family and dogs.
Lara Ajemian

Lara Ajemian is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island where upon the completion of her degree she worked at prestigious firms in Connecticut and Boston. She has worked on projects that have ranged from high end residential design to large scale commercial projects. Outside of design, Lara focuses on digital renderings and project representation. When not in the office Lara can be found skiing in the northeast or enjoying family time at home.
